About Dr. Michael Villa

Michael D. Villa, DDS, is a compassionate and skilled Board Eligible Periodontist. He prides himself in being a periodontal specialist emphasizing preventative care and personalized treatment strategies. His services include surgical extractions, placement of dental implants, as well as, providing therapy for the inflammation or recession of the soft and hard tissue supporting dentition. Dr. Villa is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Background & Education:

Born and raised in Queens, New York, Dr. Villa is grateful to have experienced an extensive and successful academic path in dentistry. Dr. Villa began his career in dentistry with a strong foundation in preventative dentistry and initial licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist upon completing his training from the New York City College of Technology (CUNY) in 2012. His role in providing preventative periodontal therapy fortified a passion in the discipline of Periodontics. 

He then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine (SUNY) in 2021. Upon completion of his doctorate, he was dedicated to further his education in the field of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. In 2024, he completed his Post-Doctoral Periodontics Residency at the prestigious Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where he received his Certification in Periodontology. He is licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey. 

Dr. Villa’s dedication to patient care and community service has earned him various honors, including the Appel Award in Periodontics from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He was the recipient of the William L. Tucker Scholarship from 2017-2021 during his education at SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. 

He has devoted time to participate in community service ventures over the years, including Remote Area Medical (RAM) in Knoxville, Tennessee and is currently providing periodontal surgical care in a Federally Qualified Health Center serving low-income communities in east and central Harlem. 

In his free time and when not scheduled to see patients at 209 NYC Dental, Dr. Villa enjoys traveling. He is an avid New York baseball enthusiast and values spending quality time with his daughter.
